At WurkNow, our goal is to disrupt, transform and provide lasting solutions for the blue-collar workforce. To enhance our commitment to you, we have selected qualified and well-respected leaders in the business, staffing, and legal industries to be on our Board of Advisors. The following members on our board guide us, support us, and offer their expertise and insight as we navigate the exciting future of WurkNow.

Mike Oritz, Attorney at Law

My name is Mike Ortiz, and I’m a former United States Marine. I now practice business and intellectual property law in Corona, California. I represent clients in their business transactions as well as assist them with dispute resolution. My areas of expertise include helping companies with their intellectual property management, and with all of their general corporate matters. I am delighted to be part of WurkNow because when I think of the blue-collar workforce, I think of my family. Contributing to the success of WurkNow is my way of giving back to all of the hard-working, blue-collar employees so I can help make their lives easier.

Alexandra Orozco, Entrepreneur and Business Consultant

Hello, my name is Alexandra Orozco, and I have 15 years of experience in various leadership roles building, leading, and managing startup companies in the life sciences industry. My focus is on strategic marketing and planning, and I have spent 20 years in marketing development and implementation.

I enjoy mentoring start-up companies and working as a sustainability advocate. I’m also fully bilingual in Spanish and English. I graduated with my MBA from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada, and hold an International Business Administration degree from EAFIT University in Colombia. I am the previous Partner and Vice President of Marketing for Ascenta (a leader in the Nutraceuticals space that sold to Schwabe Group company in 2015), and I have held several senior management roles in the telecommunications, contact center, and hospitality industries.

I am currently the Associate Director for International Partnerships EPIC at University of California, Riverside (UCR), and I am also a proud member of the teaching team for the UCR I-Corps program (determines if there is a market for an innovation). In addition to my day job, I am also a partner in Earthlogic – an international strategy and branding business consulting firm that works with organizations in North and Latin America to help them improve their marketing communications. Clients of Earthlogic encompass a variety of sectors including CleanTech, IT, Biomedical, BioTech, Nutraceuticals, and Education. It’s my pleasure to be part of the WurkNow team because I recognize the value that this platform brings to the job search and hiring process, and appreciate how it helps make peoples’ lives better.

Gloria Hammers, Entrepreneur and Staffing Professional

I’m Gloria Hammers, and the manufacturing industry is my passion. I have over 22 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, and staffing. I founded and worked at Techicare for ten years, and spent an additional eight years at Source One Staffing where I focused on placing workers in light industrial, warehousing, distribution, and Class A Drivers.

Throughout my career, I have staffed manufacturers with designers, engineers, drafters, QA, and administrative professionals – I know the staffing field well, and how important it is to deliver a high touch customer experience every time. At my current company, Proworks Staffing, I am adamant about providing a hands-on, boutique style, and curated approach to staffing (with a concentration on skilled labor). I was born and raised in Southern California, and I want to see our local companies succeed. I’m pleased to be part of WurkNow because I feel it will help manufacturers better assess their business needs and plan out their staffing demands.

Mandeep Rupal, Attorney at Law

My name is Mandeep Rupal, and I’m a California lawyer specializing in employment-related litigation (I represent both employees and companies). In addition to my focus on litigation, I also counsel and train companies on compliance with California and federal employment laws (including reductions in force, harassment and discrimination, job applicant background checks, employee misconduct investigations, wage and hour audits, hiring and firing, disability discrimination and accommodation, employment policies and handbooks, and more). I believe the staffing industry desperately needs disruption, and that WurkNow will positively change the entire temporary staffing marketplace – and I’m excited to be part of this transformation.

Jay Gilberg, Entrepreneur and Staffing Professional

Hi, I’m Jay Gilberg, and I founded and worked as the CEO of ABCOW Staffing (one of the largest independent staffing firms in San Diego) for 20 years. I am proud to say that ABCOW was the recipient of INC500 designation (award given to the nation’s 500 fastest growing privately held companies over five years). We specialized in direct-hire and temporary staffing service for the accounting and administrative fields.

When I decided to sell my company, I chose to pursue my entrepreneurial passion as an Instructor and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). I love assisting my students and advising faculty and small business entrepreneurs on how to bring their technologies to life. In addition to teaching and advising, I also oversee my multi-location real estate business. I am thrilled to be involved with WurkNow and to watch how it will revolutionize the temporary staffing industry.
